Udupi, Mar 26: “Rs 8.80 lac in cash has been seized in Udupi – Chikkamagaluru constituency limits under the model code of conduct,” said Udupi deputy commissioner Dr Vidya Kumari.

Addressing news persons at her office here, Vidya Kumari said “7 FIRs have been filed for violation of poll code. A total of 241 complaints have been received including in the CVIGil app," she said.

The deputy commissioner said a total of 15,76,264 voters are registered in the Udupi – Chikkamagaluru constituency.

 

The notification will be issued for filing of nominations on March 28. The process of filing of nomination papers will begin from March 28. The last date for filing the nomination is April 4. Nominations will thereafter be scrutinised on April 5 and April 8 will be the last date for the withdrawal of nominations.  Polling will be held on April 26, 2024, she said.

"Only five members including the candidate are allowed inside the returning officer’s office during the nomination filing. One candidate can file a maximum of fpur nominations with a one-time deposit amount of Rs 25,000. If the candidate belongs to SC/ST community they will have make a payment of Rs 12,500 along with caste certificate,” she said.

“The candidate should create a new bank account for the election expenditure and should operate all the expenses from the same account. The election expenditure accounting will begin from the day of filing the nomination including the nomination filing. All the necessary permissions should be obtained through the Suvidha app alone for election-related campaign work. For weddings and other such programmes permission can be obtained through the single window system from the deputy commissioner's office. Usage of loudspeakers is prohibited between 10 pm and 6 am. The electorate can file their complaints through the CVIGIL app for easy nabbing. The teams will reach the spot within 15-20 minutes of receiving the complaints,” she added.

Mamata Devi, ADC and Prathik Bayal, CEO of zilla panchayat were present on the occasion.
