Udupi, Mar 30: "Congress had promised Guarantees during the assembly elections. Many criticized this, but we won with huge numbers, and within 24 hours, two guarantees were launched. Today, we have ensured 99% implementation of Guarantee schemes for the people of Karnataka," said Manjunath Bhandary, MLC and KPCC working president in Udupi.
He further said, "Today, the world is looking at Karnataka. We ensured universal basic income. In Karnataka, every house is receiving around 5-6k. We are confident about fulfilling the guarantee schemes. Those who criticized the guarantee schemes are now benefiting from them.
"We are not against any mandir or masjid. But we believe in working. Congress accounts have been seized. The party, which has been in existence for 147 years, has only 600 crore rupees. But by ruling for just 10 years, they have accumulated 6000 crore rupees. They fear defeat and have seized the Congress accounts. BJP is like a washing machine. Leaders receive a clean chit once they join BJP. ED, CBI are working for whom? Parakala Prabhakar, husband of the union finance minister, says that electoral bonds are the biggest scam of the nation.
"The inauguration of Ram Mandir has happened only for election purposes. Lord Ram therein is not Ayodhya Ram. Again, two years of work are pending to complete. Why should a prime minister of 140 crore people go there? We attend every Paryaya, even from the days of Oscar Fernandes. Why rely on emotional issues only? There are many issues to be solved in the nation. They have just changed the names of Congress schemes and reintroduced them. I believe in the Hindutva taught by my parents. We have not gone for emotional Hindutva. We believe in Hindutva that propagates love. We live on this. We never ask for votes on a communal basis. If people accept their Hindutva, why did CT Ravi lose? Why did Sunil Kumar win with just a 4,000-vote margin? The government has not gone bankrupt; their minds have.
"I thank all the senior leaders of Congress for appointing me as the KPCC working president. I have been given the election responsibility of Malnad and Coastal districts.
"J P Hegde has joined the party, and he has been chosen as the candidate. He is a gentleman of politics. He has made his own contributions to the Udupi district. J P Hegde will file nominations on April 3, and a workers' meet has also been organized on the same day. Tentatively, on April 6, either the chief minister or KPCC president will campaign in Udupi," he said.
MA Gaffur, KPCC secretary Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president of Udupi district Congress Kishan Hegde Kolkebailu, working president of Udupi district Congress leaders Prasadraj Kanchan, Ramesh Kanchan, Prakhyath Shetty, and others were present.
