Kaup, Apr 5: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde appealed to the voters, highlighting his experience as an MLA, minister, and MP in various positions, emphasizing his dedication to addressing the constituency's issues with honesty.

He addressed meetings as part of Lok Sabha election activities in various areas of the Kaup constituency.

He stated, “If candidates seek votes in the name of their party leader without fulfilling their duties as MPs, they will only resurface after five years, having neglected their responsibilities. However, when a voter supports me, I am obligated to work. If the vote is cast for the leader, the MP may comfortably spend time in Delhi. It is imperative to discuss this, otherwise, democracy loses its essence. Voters should understand that they are not voting for the prime minister but for a candidate who will work here.

"A good government is essential, accompanied by a robust opposition. To achieve this, it is crucial to elect capable representatives. During my tenure as a minister, I advocated for the separation of Udupi from the Dakshina Kannada district, aiming to provide nearby facilities to the people. This initiative has significantly contributed to the development of the Udupi district.

"If given the opportunity, I will prioritize resolving the issues faced by coastal fishermen, addressing highway problems, and supporting groundnut and coffee farmers in both highlands and plains. Additionally, I aim to facilitate tourism development, improve education and healthcare, promote engineering, and establish a medical college.

"The BJP candidates used to ridicule guarantee schemes by likening them to a peacock feather placed in a book. However, now they must answer whether the peacock feather has hatched or if it is merely an egg. The Congress government has diligently upheld its promises, proving these criticisms to be unfounded. It's not just Jayaprakash Hegde who will secure victory in this election, but also the collective efforts of Congress workers. Let us unite and work together.

"As a parliamentarian, despite the approval of national highways, the work remains incomplete even after a decade, with no tangible benefits for the people. Farmers continue to face the same challenges, grappling with rising prices, unemployment, and various other issues. It is imperative to address these problems head-on. I urge you to vote for me and secure a win, as we strive to find solutions to these pressing concerns,” he said.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, the chairman of the KPCC campaign committee, asserted that the state government has fulfilled its electoral promises. He criticized the BJP MPs for their failure to secure grants from the central government for the state, accusing them of adopting a biased stance against the central state. Sorake highlighted the public's dissatisfaction with the central government's anti-people policies, citing corruption, price manipulation, false assurances, and the introduction of electoral bonds as significant issues. He also criticized the BJP candidate, alleging that during his tenure as a minister, he deceived coastal residents by promising to provide boiled rice. Furthermore, Sorake condemned the silence of the BJP candidate in the face of the central government's rejection of the tableau of Narayan Guru and the removal of Narayan Guru from textbooks. He urged the public to reject the BJP, which he accused of deceit, and to vote for Jayaprakash Hegde, who he believes will effectively represent the constituency in Parliament.

Jayaprakash Hegde addressed election campaigns in Hejamady, Padubidri, Palimaru, Yermal, Uchila, Ellur, Mudarangady, Shirva, Kalathur, Kutyaru, and Mazur of Kaup assembly constituency.

Leaders advocate Naveen Chandra Suvarna, Yashwant Kotian, Sunil Bangera, Sukumar Padubidri, Naveen Chandra Shetty, Karunakara Poojary, Diwakar Shetty, Rameez Hussain, Sudhir Karkera, Prashant Jatanna, Melvin D'Souza, Ghulam Mohammad, Aziz and various party leaders and workers were present.
