Bantwal, Apr 5: The Ruby Jubilee celebration of Deva Matha Youth Movement (ICYM), Mogarnad, held on March 31, at Deva Matha English Medium School Grounds, marked a momentous milestone in the history of the organisation.
 
This grand event brought together past and present members, supporters, and well-wishers to commemorate 40 years of dedicated service, leadership, and community engagement.
 
The celebration was a testament to the spirit of unity, resilience, and unwavering commitment that has defined ICYM Mogarnad Unit throughout its journey. 
 
















 
The distinguished guests and dignitaries who graced the Ruby Jubilee celebration programme included Fr Anil Canute D'Mello, the esteemed director of Deva Matha Youth Movement (DMYM) and parish priest of Mogarnad, along with Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, director of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) in the Mangalore diocese.
 
Additionally, the institution was honored to have Mithesh Dsouza, the president of ICYM in the Mangalore diocese, and William Cyril Lewis, the founder president of DMYM, among its esteemed guests.
 
Furthermore, Praveen D'Cunha, president of ICYM was welcomed in the St John Paul 2 deanery, along with Sr Anne, the sSuperior of Deva Matha Convent, and Santhosh D'Souza, vice-president of the Parish Pastoral Council.
 
Additionally, Wilfred Lobo, secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, Emiliana D'Cunha, coordinator of all the Commissions of the church, Avit Premson Lobo, president of DMYM, Melvita Christal Pereira, secretary of DMYM, Prashant Lewis, animator of DMYM, and James Martis, the honourary president of DMYM Ruby Jubilee committee, graced with their presence, making the occasion truly special and memorable.
 
The festivities commenced with Flavita Priya, serving as the master of ceremony, providing an overview of the Ruby Jubilee celebration. Following this, a heartfelt prayer song was performed by the dedicated members of DMYM, setting a serene and spiritual tone for the evening.
 
As the esteemed dignitaries took their place on stage, James Martis extended a warm welcome to the gathered audience, marking the official inauguration of the event. Adding a symbolic touch, the jubilee was symbolically inaugurated by releasing 40 balloons into the air, signifying the 40 years of devotion and service by DMYM.
 
Following the inauguration, Melvita presented the comprehensive DMYM report for the year 2023-24, detailing the various impactful activities and initiatives undertaken by the organisation. This report provided a thorough overview of the dedication and commitment of DMYM towards serving the community.
 
Additionally, a nostalgic journey through the last 40 years of DMYM was beautifully captured in a video presentation. This visual representation showcased the humble beginnings of DMYM, major milestones achieved, and the remarkable journey spanning four decades. It offered a heartfelt tribute to the collective efforts and achievements of DMYM over the years.
 
During the inaugural address, William Cyril Lewis reminisced about the early days of the movement, reflecting on its humble beginnings and the initial activities that laid the foundation for its growth. He shared anecdotes and insights into the journey, highlighting the dedication and vision that shaped the movement over the years.
 
His speech resonated with the audience, evoking a sense of nostalgia and gratitude for the enduring legacy of DMYM.
 
Following that, the esteemed guests felicitated the presidents who had served diligently over the past 40 years, acknowledging their significant contributions to the movement's success.
 
The ceremony was a moment of honour and recognition, celebrating the dedication and leadership of these individuals throughout the decades.
 
After the felicitation ceremony, Fr Ashwin, chief guest, addressed the gathering and encouraged everyone to participate in a small activity. Through this activity, he demonstrated the power of pushing oneself beyond limits, highlighting the potential for great achievements when we challenge ourselves. It was a motivational session inspiring everyone to strive for excellence and surpass their boundaries.
 
Following the inspiring speech, the secretaries who dedicated their services over the past 40 years were honoured for their unwavering support and commitment to the Deva Matha Youth Movement. Their dedication and hard work were acknowledged, highlighting their invaluable contributions to the success and growth of the movement.
 
Following the previous speech, Prashant Lewis, the current animator of DMYM, took the stage to reflect on the diverse initiatives undertaken by the movement in recent years.
 
He highlighted significant achievements such as constructing homes for the underprivileged, commemorating milestones like the Arch during the Bidecennial Jubilee, organising visits to ashrams, and contributing funds raised from scrap collection to support the less fortunate. These efforts exemplify the movement's ongoing commitment to humanitarian causes and community service.
 
After the inspiring speech, Fr Anil Canute Dmello, director of DMYM, officially unveiled the souvenir magazine, a commemorative publication capturing the essence of the Ruby Jubilee Celebration for posterity.
 
Subsequently, special recognition was extended to the generous donors whose contributions made the Ruby Jubilee celebration possible. Their support and generosity have been instrumental in the success of this momentous occasion, and their names will forever be cherished in the annals of the Deva Matha Youth Movement.
 
Following the insightful address, Fr Anil Canute D'Mello, director of DMYM, delivered an empowering presidential speech. He emphasised the significance of the youth period as a transformative phase capable of fostering remarkable achievements.
 
Fr D'Mello encouraged parents to actively support and encourage their children to participate in youth movements, fostering their engagement and development. He further motivated the youth to immerse themselves fully in various youth activities, emphasizing the importance of their active involvement in shaping a brighter future.
 
After the conclusion of the speeches, all the esteemed guests were presented with commemorative mementos.
 
A special felicitation was extended to Dr Devadas Kapikad, whose team showcased a captivating drama that served as the highlight of the event. Avit Premson Lobo, president of DMYM, expressed gratitude and delivered the vote of thanks to acknowledge everyone's contributions.
 
The members of DMYM united in singing the theme song, creating a harmonious and celebratory atmosphere.
 
Following the formal programme, a lively dance performance entertained the gathered audience.
 
The evening culminated in a mesmerising drama titled 'NAIDA BEELA', written, directed, and performed by Dr Devadas Kapikad, Arvind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, and their talented team.
