Mangaluru, Apr 9: St Vincent De Paul Society, Omzoor celebrated its Silver Jubilee Finale on April 7. This celebration was a chance to look back, remember and cherish the old experiences and memories. These fruitful 25 years of service have made many people experience the incredible efforts put in by the selfless minds who have served the parish and made a mark in the heart of the community. This Finale Celebration was not only about the memories but the mission that SVP serves. The main Mission of SVP, Omzoor was to provide financial aid to the beneficiaries in need of a house as part of their Silver Jubilee Celebration.
A thanksgiving mass was celebrated at 7.30 am in Holy Family Church, Omzoor. The main celebrant was Rev Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, Parish Priest.
Celebration continued at 6.30 pm at Holy Family Church Grounds for a cultural evening. Alwyn Dsouza, President, SVP Omzoor; welcomed the gathering. A birds-eye view of the past years was presented by Delphine Lobo, Secretary, SVP Omzoor. During the cultural evening all the past presidents who have served in this association were honored and their contribution for the growth of the unit was appreciated. Rev Fr Andrew Dsouza, Founder Spiritual Director, SVP Omzoor was also honored by Fr Alwyn Dcunha, parish priest for his service. Benefactors and sponsors were honored for their selfless contribution towards the success of the mission and celebration. Thereafter, ‘Astitva(R)’ a well-known drama team of Mangalore performed a Konkani Drama – “Jugari” by Arun Lal, Kerala.
Rev Fr Alwyn Dsouza, spiritual director, SVP Omzoor presided over the event. Rev Fr Andrew Dsouza, Founder Spiritual Director, SVP Omzoor; Br Jo Coelho, President, SVP Central Council, Mangalore; Br Felix D’Silva, Vice-President, SVP Central Council, Mangalore; Br Cyril D’Souza, President, SVP Bantwal Council, Sr Cynthia Saldanha, Superior, St Charles Borromeo Convent, Omzoor; Arther Dsouza, Vice President of PPC, Dafny Lewis, Secretary of PPC and Elroy Saldanha, Co-Ordinator of all church commissions graced the occasion.
Santhosh Lobo and Cynthia Lobo compered the programme. To culminate a fellowship meal was arranged.
