Udupi, Apr 10: “Under the auspices of the Udupi District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA), in collaboration with the Udupi Girija Group of Concerns and the Udupi Press club Committee, the foundation day of the association will be organized on April 12 at 10 30 am at the Udupi Press Bhavan,” said district president of the association Rajesh Shetty Alevoor.
Speaking at a press conference called in Udupi, he said that Udupi Taluk Working Journalists Association was formed under Udupi District Working Journalists Association after Udupi was formed as a separate district in 1997. Its inauguration was held on April 12, 1998. That day was decided to be celebrated as the foundation day last year during the silver jubilee celebrations of the association. Similarly, this year also it is intended to celebrate the foundation day of the Sangh. This day will be celebrated as the foundation day every year.
Dr Rabindranath Shanubhage, president of Udupi Human Rights protection foundation will inaugurate the foundation day. Association president Rajesh Shetty Alevoor will preside. Founder general secretary of the association and editor of Kundaprabha weekly US Shenoy will speak about the foundation day.
Girija Group of Concerns' managing director Ravindra K Shetty will unveil the nameplate of the president and general secretaries of the association who have served since the establishment of the association. On this occasion, senior journalist Subhash Chandra Wagle will be honoured on the foundation day.
He informed that association's silver jubilee committee coordinator Mohammad Sharief, national committee member Arun Kumar Shiroor, state committee Member Kiran Manjanbailu, press club committee coordinator Ajith Aradi, association general secretary Nazeer Polya, and treasurer Umesh Marpalli will be present.
Press conference co-convener Ankit Shetty, Udupi district executive committee member Michael Rodrigues, and Harish Kunder were present in the press conference.
