Karkala, Apr 11: The high court (HC) has ordered a stay on the case against Congress leaders from Karkala. This case was filed at the city police station concerning the uncovering of a scam related to the Parashuram idol installed in the Parashuram Theme Park at Bailur Erlapady.

On October 22, 2023, MLC Manjunatha Bhandary visited the Parashuram Theme Park to inspect the quality of the Parashuram idol and gather information from officials at the Nirmiti center. During this time, a video surfaced on social media showing fibre remains of the idol, allegedly shared by Congress leaders. Erlapady gram panchayat president Sunil Hegde filed a complaint against Congress leaders Shubada Rao, Subith Kumar, Vivekananda Shenoy, and Ivan Miranda under sections 442, 505 (2), and 34 of the IPC based on this video.

The accused Congress leaders have contested the case and appealed to the high court. On April 4, the HC granted a stay. Lawyer Kerebettu Prasanna Shetty represented the accused in court.
