Kasargod, Apr 13: ICYM Kollangana Unit celebrated its silver jubilee with fervour and joy. On the first day, Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza led the silver jubilee mass, inspiring members to persevere in their mission for Christ. Fr Rithesh Rodrigues joined in the celebration, as people and members alike expressed gratitude to the almighty for his blessings.
The festivities continued the next day with a cultural programme. The stage came alive with prayer dances and vibrant performances showcasing the talents of children and youth. Under the guidance of parish priest Fr Rithesh Rodrigues and ICYM Kollanganna unit president Melwyn Crasta, the stage programme unfolded seamlessly.
The event commenced with the presence of distinguished figures such as the Fr Stany Pereira, vicar vara of the Varado; Fr Vishal Monis, director of Varado Youth, Fr Oswald Monteiro, vicar vara of Kinnigoli deanery and founder director of ICYM Kollanagana, Fr Ashwin Cardoza, director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Sr Severine D'Cunha, animator, Sr Pavana, superior of Bethany Convent, Kollangana; Sanjay D'Souza, president of ICYM Karnataka region, Aslley D'Souza, general secretary of ICYM Karnataka Region, Mithesh D'Souza, president of ICYM Mangalore, alongside other esteemed office bearers.
The proceedings saw the involvement of Praveen Lobo, vice president, PPC, Jacintha Machado, secretary, PPC, and Shalini Rodrigues, coordinator of 21 Parish Ayog, adding to the vibrancy of the event.
A highlight of the celebration included the reading of a comprehensive 25-year report, recounting the ICYM unit journey and milestones. In a gesture of appreciation, past Presidents and Secretaries were honoured for their invaluable contributions to the parish's growth and development.
The spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship was further celebrated as prizes were distributed for various sports activities, recognizing the talent and dedication within the parish community.
The evening culminated in a captivating performance of the Tulu drama titled ‘Nahida Bila,’ captivating the audience with its rich narrative and cultural essence.
As the curtains drew close on this memorable occasion, the silver jubilee celebration of Kollangana Parish stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of faith, unity, and community empowerment.
