Bengaluru woman accused of killing her children ends life in prison

Bengaluru, Apr 14: In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Gangadevi, the woman accused of murdering her two children in Jalahalli, has tragically died by suicide in Parappana Agrahara prison in the city.

Gangadevi was found hanging in the prison's toilet on Thursday night. This grim development follows her shocking confession on Wednesday morning, where she admitted to suffocating her children. Despite her intentions of ending her own life, authorities intervened and prevented the suicide attempt.

The deceased, Gangadevi, had been residing with her two children in Jalahalli prior to the horrific incident. Following her arrest, she was remanded to Parappana Agrahara prison.

Following a post-mortem examination, Gangadevi's remains were handed over to her relatives for final rites.

The tragic circumstances surrounding Gangadevi's actions shed light on a tumultuous family situation. Her husband, already imprisoned on charges of sexual harassment, hails from Andhra Pradesh, as does Gangadevi. Previously employed in the marketing sector of a private company, Gangadevi's marriage of ten years had been marred by strife, leading to her husband's arrest under the POCSO Act.

Police sources suggest that ongoing family conflicts may have contributed to Gangadevi's decision to take her own life, underscoring the depth of this tragic saga.

Lady needed counselling and moral support. She would have killed her children, thinking she will also kill herself. Many family need counselling to tackle family issues. Otherwise some end up in tragedy like this.

Anger, pride, lust, suicidal thoughts, suicide, murder ... all come from devil and not God. Human can be possessed by demons or good spirits of God like love, peace, joy, self control, patience... opposites come from devil

Sad to know that her whole life didnt function normal as it should have been.I am really not sure whether she herself hung in jail toilet or she was hung by co mates in jail.In jail you are not sure whether you will be secure all the time. Some inmates are very rabbiat since they know she killed her children ,may not leave her without some punishment .They have nothing to loose there ,they think .Anyway its gone tragic .May her soul rest in peace.Unite with her children above.

We jump to conclusion or come up with suggestion only after some tragedy strikes. God knows what she went through when/after her husband got arrested and was left to look after her two children all by herself. She was educated, had a job but that is not all one requires to raise a family. There could have been help from family, friends or society. When any of this was not available, better we think that she and her children didn't exist. We treated her in that manner when she was alive, why shed tears now. Sorry dear, at-least in death you are peacefully with your children.

Very tragic and unfortunate sequence of events; may their souls RIP!! BTW; committing suicide by hanging in the prison toilet is not possible (ST had given strict directive regarding design of prison toilets after a spate of unnatural deaths inside prison toilets)......???

Generally the patience segment/element has whizzed off. Concept of counselling doesn't stand in good stead these days despite frantic efforts because the aggrieved party wants a "two minute solution" just like a pack of 2 minutes instant Maggie noodles.
