Dubai, Apr 19: UAE Brahmana Samaja's 20th Anniversary celebration, 'Vimshati', was a splendid event filled with cultural richness and joy.
Held on April 13, at the Jumeirah Baccalaureate School in Jumeirah, Dubai, the festivities included a diverse array of cultural presentations. From folk dances to classical Indian dance forms like Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, and even unique performances such as the Tiger Dance and Mono Act, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The provision of morning breakfast, sumptuous lunch, and evening snacks ensured that attendees were well taken care of throughout the day, enhancing the overall experience of the celebration.
It started with inauguration at 9.30 am with prayer in Hindustani and Carnatic style followed by Veda recital by Shree Sandeepani Rig Shikshana Kendra students.
Guests including general manager of Dubai Hindu Temple, Mohan Narasimha Murthy, poet H Dundiraj from India, businessman Puthige Vasudev Bhat, Owner of Bhima Jewellers Nagaraj Rao, veteran of Brahmana Samaja Jayaram Somayaji, Krishna Murthy Aithal, president Sudhakar Rao Pejavar, Vani Bhat, Nalini Somayaji and Latha Sudhakar jointly lighted the auspicious lamp which was placed in the midst of beautifully decorated flower rangoli.
It's heartening that guest Mohan Narasimha Murthy took the time to extend his good wishes and express gratitude to all the committee members for their efforts in successfully organising the 20 programmes held throughout the year.
Recognising the hard work and dedication of the committee members is essential, as their tireless efforts play a crucial role in the smooth execution of such events.
By acknowledging the contributions of the committee members, Mohan Narasimha Murthy not only showed appreciation for their hard work but also emphasized the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving success. Such gestures of recognition and gratitude help foster a sense of camaraderie and unity within the community, reinforcing the bonds that hold it together.

Cultural Extravaganza on Bhima Stage
The whole event was in two phases with lunch break in between. The first phase started with dance for ‘Ganesha Stuti’ and then dances continued with ‘Shiva Stuti’, ‘Bharatanatyam - Kuchipudi’ duo, folk singing, filmy singing, folk dances, yaksha dance, Kamsale dance, cultural skit, mono act, Assamese dance by Rohini Ananth, Kolata by the ladies of Brahmana Samaj, instrumental music etc., all beautifully performed by the community members.
The second phase after lunch consisted of Kannada comedy skit, Tulu folk dance, Kathak-Bharatanatyam jugalbandi well presented by Taal Academy and then few duet songs were well presented.
Traditional pure vegetarian sumptuous lunch was served to all by Venus/Amba Group of Restaurants.
‘Vimshati’ Formal Stage Program and Felicitations
The chief guest of the event, well-known orator, writer, poet, dramatist from India, H Dhundiraj was invited on to the stage along with other guests, Patron of UAE Brahamana Samaj, Puthige Vasudev Bhat, community veteran Krishna Murthy Aithal, president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Sarvotham Shetty, businessman Dr Frank Fernandes, veteran founder convener of UAE Brahamana Samaj, Jayaram Somayaji, president Sudhakar Pejavar, Shivaram Bhat and Anant Tantri.
President Sudhakar Pejavar welcomed the guests and then spoke on the past programmes of the Samaja and thanked all those who were part of the ongoing activities of the Samaja. He also thanked and felicitated all the sponsors, presenters and guest artistes who have come from India.
Absolutely, the 20-year journey of the UAE Brahmana Samaja stands as a shining example of the power of unity and solidarity within a community. Over the past two decades, the members of the Samaja have come together to build a strong and supportive network, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie among its members.
Through various cultural, social, and charitable initiatives, the Samaja has not only preserved the cultural heritage of its community but has also contributed positively to the wider society. Whether it's organizing cultural events, providing support to members in need, or engaging in philanthropic activities, the Samaja has played a pivotal role in promoting harmony and cooperation among its members.

H Dundiraj was honoured with the title ‘Shabdha Samrat’. In response to the Award he spoke well on the activities of Samaja in this part of the world and said that when likeminded fellow community members join together then only the tradition and its values can be saved for the future.
He thanked for the opportunity given and also bowed to the honour bestowed upon him.
‘Lake of Laughter’ in Dubai by poet Dundiraj
H Dhundiraj's presence at the event added a significant amount of joy and laughter to the celebration. With his humorous and comical poetry, he captivated the audience and brought a lake of laughter to the soil of Dubai. Dhundiraj's talent for crafting humorous verses in Kannada, while keeping alive the language, tradition, and folk art, is truly commendable. Starting with just a four-line comedy phrase, he has grown into a renowned orator in India, beloved by countless Kannadigas worldwide.
His ability to eloquently weave humor into his commentary on everyday affairs, including family dynamics, community issues, and lifestyle, undoubtedly kept the audience's facial muscles and jaws stretched throughout his performance. With 68 immortal scripts to his name, Dhundiraj has undoubtedly left a lasting legacy in the world of literature and entertainment, enriching the lives of those who have had the pleasure of experiencing his work.
Mesmerising “Daksha Dwara’ Yakshagana Ballet Presentation
The traditional 'Daksha Dwara' Yakshagana Ballet was a truly mesmerising experience for the audience, keeping them glued to their seats for over two and a half hours. With both local talents and guest artistes from India, the performance was a remarkable display of artistry and cultural richness.
Chinmaya Bhat's powerful narration added a compelling dimension to the ballet, guiding the audience through the intricate storyline with his thunderous voice. Vidya Kolya's portrayal of Dhakshayini, infused with emotion, evidently struck a chord with the audience, evoking genuine tears and empathetic reactions.
Deepak Pejavar's depiction of Shiva, embodying nine forms of emotions, was a highlight, showcasing the depth and complexity of the character. It's commendable that all the other artistes of the Brahmana Samaja also performed competently, bringing their roles to life and contributing to the overall success of the performance.
Such cultural showcases not only entertain but also educate and inspire, fostering a deeper appreciation for the rich tapestry of traditions and arts within the community. It's wonderful to see the UAE Brahmana Samaja embracing and showcasing its cultural heritage in such a grand and meaningful manner.
Artefacts Exhibition
A wide display of artefacts exhibition including handmade stone ornaments by Mrithika Jewellers, Sweets by Hebbars Confectionery, Books by Sanskrita Bharati, Koti Geetha Lekhana Yajna, Fabric Bugs & T Shirt, Hebbar Grocery, Miniature Garden, Display of Taal Performing Arts & Air Arabia banners were displayed in the auditorium rear end.
It's also heartening to hear that the event featured felicitations and a lucky draw, adding an element of excitement and recognition to the proceedings.
MC Arathi Adiga beautifully narrated and introduced all those Artistes and the Guests who were honoured on stage while MC Swathi Saralaya smoothly conducted the cultural presentations throughout the day.
Overall, it sounds like 'Vimshati Uthsava' was a grand success, showcasing the vibrant cultural heritage of the UAE Brahmana Samaja and fostering a sense of community and celebration among its members and attendees."Sarve Jana Sukhino Bhavantu"
