Beltangady, Apr 20: Dr Adam Usman, former chief medical officer and gynaecologist at Beltangady government community hospital passed away after a brief illness at his K C Road residence on April 20. He was 64.
He had served in the hospital for 14 years as the chief medical officer and administrator. He had retired four years ago. He had served in Kadaba and Puttur hospitals before arriving at Beltangady. He had opened a private clinic at his home town K C Road and continued his profession after his retirement.
He suffered from a brain haemorrhage a month ago. As he was in coma, he was operated in a private hospital in Mangaluru later. As he did not gain consciousness he was shifted back to his residence at K C Road a week ago. He passed away on Saturday evening.
He was simple and a person of few words. He was popular while in service at Beltangady hospital.
He has left behind his wife Fatima Saira Banu, two sons, one of whom is Shahim, a PWD contractor at Kerala and Shamim, an engineer in Bengaluru, friends and relatives. His last rites will be held at his hometown Madata on Sunday morning, informed his elder son Shahim.
