Udupi: Anti-democratic BJP needs to be defeated – DSS Maha Okkoota

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, April 23: “BJP is against democracy, social justice and the Constitution. It has toppled the reservation policy in the country. It has a secret agenda against the Constitution and democracy. It needs to be defeated in the current Lok Sabha elections. It is a question of life and death for Dalits, the exploited, the poor and women,” said like-minded Dalit Sangharsha Samithi Maha Okkoota Udupi district convener Manjunath Giliar.

Addressing a news conference at Udupi on Tuesday, April 23, he said Ambedkar campaign was started by the Okkoota on April 21 from house to house. “Dalit colonies are being visited and pamphlets are being distributed to create awareness,” he said.

“The BJP-led NDA government has launched several anti-people policies during the last ten years. There was not even one project for the welfare of Dalits. Their policies do not value social justice. They are asking to change the constitution every now and then causing anxiety. There have been repeated atrocities against the Dalits,” he said.

“The government has sold government organisations to private enterprises and done away with reservation. It is a shock for the exploited community. Several lacs of jobs meant for Dalits justly have been rooted out. BJP which does not agree with the democratic system is showing Modi as the dictator,” he said.

Maha Okkoota chief convener Sunder Master said that there is a danger for democracy and the Constitution if BJP wins this time. “Do not vote for the candidates that are anti-Constitution,” he said.

Maha Okkoota leaders Vasudeva Mudoor, Annappa Nakre Karkala, Vishwanath Bellampalli, Sham Sunder Thekkatte, Raju Bettinamane, Kumar Kota, Suresh Hakladi, Shivananda Moodabettu, Mohan, Chandrashekar Udupi, Keerthi Kumar and Sumita Karkala were present.
