Udupi, Apr 24: Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, the district Congress president, said, "Jayaprakash Hegde is not alone; the entire district Congress and its leaders are actively campaigning in his favour."
Responding to a reporter's inquiry about J P Hegde campaigning alone, Ashok Kumar clarified, “These are baseless allegations spread by opposition parties. The district Congress is fully engaged in supporting Jayaprakash Hegde. KPCC campaign committee chairman Vinay Kumar Sorake has been actively involved in canvassing and organizing rallies. Despite some prior commitments in Bengaluru, he promptly returned to continue canvassing. Additionally, the chief minister was scheduled to join the canvassing efforts in Udupi, but due to health reasons, it was postponed.”
“The state government's five guarantees have reached every household. This time, the Congress candidate for the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency, K Jayaprakash Hegde, is confident of securing victory by a significant margin. The BJP is grappling with internal divisions across all constituencies in the state, akin to a house with three doors. Jayaprakash Hegde's contributions to the coastal region as a minister, MP and MLA have fostered a favourable sentiment toward the Congress party, which resonates with constituents. Presently, the party has strengthened its presence in Chikkamagaluru. Activists in Udupi district have rallied together with renewed zeal to ensure victory for the Congress candidate, and concerted efforts have been made to rejuvenate the party's legacy in the Udupi district.
“In its pursuit, the BJP has coerced various organizations of the country such as the CBI, ED, and IT, leveraging threats to extract bonds worth thousands of crores of rupees. The BJP deserves credit for normalizing corruption. The central government's policies have directly and indirectly burdened the populace with exorbitant taxes, exacerbating poverty levels. The struggles faced by individuals across all social strata have intensified by five to tenfold. In contrast, the Congress party has already initiated the implementation of the Five Guarantees, fostering self-reliance among the people and dignified livelihoods,” he said.
Congress leaders Bhasker Rao Kediyoor, Dinesh Puthran, Prashanth Jattanna, district Congress campaign committee president Harish Kini, and other leaders were present.
