Graduation day held at St John’s College of Nursing

Bengaluru, Apr 24: The Graduation Day of the St. John’s College of Nursing, a flagship institute of the St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, will be held on 25th April 2024 at 2.30 pm.

A total of 222 nursing students will be graduating from various courses including MSc and PhD. Among the graduating students, it is noteworthy that there are 30 University rank holders from the PBBSc course and 27 rank holders from the B.Sc. Nursing course. There are several students who have secured distinction among the graduation batch.


Dr. Punitha Ezhilarasu, Senior Consultant, Indian Nursing Council & Former Dean, College of Nursing, CMC Vellore would be the Chief Guest for the function. Most Rev. Joshua Mar Ignathios, Governing Board member, St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences and Bishop of Mavelikara, will preside over the function.

St. John’s College of Nursing, which was started in the early 1980s, is now a pioneer institution in the field of nursing education, and is offering courses in Ph.D, M.Sc. nursing, B.Sc. nursing, PBBSc Nursing, Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care & GNM under the aegis of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) & Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board (KSDNEB). The college admits 260 undergraduates and 40 post graduate nurses annually and offers an integrated nursing programme that optimally combines classroom learning and bedside care.

Students and faculty are actively involved with the activities of Students Nurses Association (SNA), Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) and Indian Nursing Council (INC) in academic and support programs. The training imparted focuses on making the nurse a multidimensional professional, with ample opportunities given to students to participate in extra curriculum activity.

Faculty of the institute are also pioneers in the field of nursing education, representing the state and nation in nursing education. Several faculty are also part of the RGUHS boards till date and also contribute to building policy in nursing education and care at various positions nationally and internationally.
