Udupi: Street play promoting voting awareness staged at MGM College

Udupi, April 25: A street play was staged by Udupi MGM College Sweep committee and Arts Club to create awareness on voting at MGM College premises on Wednesday, April 24 in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Udupi Zilla Panchayat chief executive Pratheek Bayal said everybody including the youths and students in particular should realize their responsibilities and vote. “Voting will bring about success in democracy that is by the people and for the people,” he said.

Udupi Human rights protection foundation convener Dr Ravindranath Shanbhog said that voting is our right and our duty. “People are developing awareness about it now. People have learnt to select able candidates. We should vote without fail and exercise our right,’ he said.

Udupi Dayat vice-principal Ashok Kamath, MGM Evening College principal Dr Devidas S Naika, Pre-University College principal Malathi Devi M, student welfare officer Professor Ramesh Karla, IQACA project officer Professor Shailaja S, professors Arun Kumar B, Dr Ishwar Bhat, Gandhi study center convener Vineet Rao, Narasimha Murthy, Prakash Jathanna and others were present.

Sweep committee and Arts Club coordinator Vidyanath K delivered the keynote address and administered oath to the students. College principal Professor Lakshminarayana Karanth welcomed. Drama troupe director Ramanji compered Namma Bhoomi programme. Coordinator Pallavi Kodagu proposed the vote of thanks.

MGM College Arts Club students Pallavi Kodagu, Latha, Ishani, Sakshi S Harsha Gowda, Rohit Prajwal, Vaishavi Pai, Josna, Vindya, Nitin Aditya, Nikhil Sumakha. Prashanth S Ajith, Skanda, Vinyas Pai, Roshan Gowda and others acted in the drama written by college alumni Ramanji Nammabhoomi.
