Mangalore: Contract Employees of BSNL Demand Better Facilities

Mangalore, Oct 11: BSNL contract workers under the banner of BSNL non-permanent workers’ union affiliated to CITU, DK district began a 24-hour protest in front of the BSNL head office here on Tuesday October 11 from 10.30 am demanding better facilities for permanent job status.

The protest is being led by Balakrishna Bheemaguli, chief secretary and Vasanth Achari, working president of BSNL non-permanent workers’ union, DK district committee.

Their demands include immediate upgrade of facilities and issual of prior notice before being removed from work. They also demanded daily wagers and contract workers be given permanent jobs and that sacked employees be taken back.
