Lucknow, Oct 12: Congress yuvraj Rahul Gandhi choose a Muslim village head's house to have dinner and spend the night during his Bundelkhand visit on Wednesday. Earlier, he had done the same exercise with a dalit family on Tuesday.
This time Rahul Gandhi visited Maudaha village in Hamirpur district of Bundelkhand on Wednesday, Sabir Ahmed, the village head was elated when Rahul choose to spent the night at his home. Rahul however slept on the rooftop with SPG keeping a vigil. During the daytime he even offered reverrence at a local dargah in the area. The move is seen as an attempt to target the Muslim voters in the state. The state of UP will be going to polls in 2012.
During his three day visit, Rahul concentrated on holding chaupal-small congregation of local villagers to strike a chord. He interacted freely with the local populace concentration mainly on centre sponsered schemes in their area. He reacted sharply when informed that the schemes were not being effectively implemented in the area. Taking a dig at the state government Rahul alleged that the funds meant for the development of Bundelkhand region is being siphoned away. He appealed to the people to support the Congress government so that picture could change in this backward region.
As per reports, Rahul Gandhi's itinery included a brief stoppage at dalit village of Ghoriyari in Banda district followed by a chaupal. In one such surprise inspection Rahula even seized 150 bags of fake DAP fertilisers at Macha village in Modaha in Hamirpur district.
