Puttur, Oct 13: "It’s tragic that youth are steadily losing their intellect. It’s ironical that the Gandhi cap that is extensively worn by agitators against corruption is also worn by other protesters supporting the corrupt politicians," said Vishnu Nayak from Uttar Kannada, veteran Kannada litterateur and socialist.

He was speaking at the birth anniversary celebration of the late Jayaprakash Narayan and conferring of ‘Jayaprakash Narayan Award’, jointly organized by Bharata Yatra Kendra, Nirata Nirantara, and Bahuvachanam at Town Hall, on Tuesday October 12.

"Politicians who rose to power in the name of Jayaprakash Narayan have forgotten socialism and turned corrupt," added Nayak.

Puttur Karnataka Sangh president B Purandar Bhat presided over the programme.
Kannada Development Authority president Mukyamantri Chandru, after presenting the award to Nayak, said that socialism lies in instilling human values.

National award winning movie director B Suresh said that the time has come to revive socialism by shunning cynicism.

I K Boluwar of Nirata Nirantara welcomed the gathering. Dr Shreesha Kumar of Bahuvachanam proposed the vote of thanks. Bharat Yatra Kendra convener Nagarajmurti compered the programme.

Kannada play ‘Senior Citizen’ was staged by experimental theater troupe from Bangalore, with TV serial actor Sitakoti and Dhananjay.
