Bangalore, Oct 13: With the Centre refusing to heed the Karnataka Government’s urgent SOS to help tide over the grim power situation in the State, the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has proposed staggered holidays to various industrial areas in Bangalore to manage the demand and supply gap in power supply, and sought consent from the industrial associations.
BESCOM, has in an official communication, suggested a different schedule of holidays for industries in different localities in the city.
Industries in Peenya I, II, III and IV stage, GKW Layout, SLV industrial Area, Brindavan Mahalakshmi Layout, Nandini Layout, FFI Industries, NTTF Road, KIADB complex, Kirloskar Boundary, Yeshwanthpur Industrial Suburb, CMTI areas, Welcast Industrial area, Rajajinagar Industrial Area, KSSIDC, Kamakshipalya and Byraveshwara Industrial Layout are advised to declare Monday as a holiday.
Holiday would be declared on Tuesday in EPIP, Shantiniketan, ITI, Kadugodi, NGEF, R R Nagar Industrial Area, Kumbalgod Industrial Area, part of Kamakshipalya, Sunkadakatte and Kotigepalya.
Industries of Hoody, Bagmane, Brigade Metropolis, Remco, Mysore Road, Kumbalgod, Bidadi, Toyota and Mahadevapura will be closed on Wednesdays.
All stages of Bommasandra, Attibele, Anekal and Jiganai will be off on Thursdays.
Yelahanka, KHB, Part of Rajajinagar Industrial area, Hoskote, Pilagumpa, Abbigere, Dobbespet and Nelamangala will have their holiday on Fridays.
All public sectors undertaking, IT/BT units, Bosch EHT, Electronic City I and II stage, Velankani Industrial Area, Malgudi Industrial Area, Krishna Mill Industrial Area, ISRO, Brindavan Tech Park, Bagmane Lake View and Bagmane Loreal, KMF and Primal Project RMZ will be declared holidays on Saturdays, while all EHT installations, some of the public sectors in Electronic City and industrial area have been proposed to be given holdiays on Sundays.
BESCOM sought the views of various industrial associations for changes, modifications or inclusions in the proposal in the interests of ensuring that all industrial units did not suffer and thereby help in overcoming shortage of power in the State.
Industrial bodies such as FKCCI and KASSIA welcomed the BESCOM’s proposal. They said BESCOM has promised industrialists about solving the power problems in six week’s time.
