Accordingly polling is held from the morning of May 7 for the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency also. As Byndoor legislative constituency falls under Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency, the polling began on the morning of May 7.

Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole cast vote at Kanchikan school, his native place. Later speaking to media, Gantihole said, “Voters have responded to the assurances given by BJP during campaign. Mothers have come forward to cast their votes in the morning. If our candidate wins by one lac lead we are committed to invite PM Modi to Byndoor.”

Former MLA B M Sukumara Shetty cast his vote at the Moodumanda polling booth of Bellal under Keradi village. Speaking to scribes, Shetty said, “Voters have decided to give a change this time. They have understood people who are deceiving public through lies. So the voters will make Congress victorious.”

A 96-year-old elderly woman cast her vote at Sulugodu polling booth number 139 falling under Hallihole gram panchayat which is a naxal infested area of Byndoor legislative constituency. Though there was facility to cast vote from home, the elderly woman preferred to come to the polling booth as it gives immense pleasure to her.

There are 246 polling booths under Byndoor legislative constituency out of which 70 are sensitive including 19 falling under naxal infested areas. CRPF is manning the naxal area polling booths. Drinking water and medical facilities are provided in every polling booth. ORS drink is also made available for those who need the same. But the percentage of voting is low as of morning.
