Puttur: Theft – Gold Ornaments, Cash worth Nine Lac Lost

Puttur, Oct 14: A family residing at Atoor by the side of Uppinangady-Kadaba-Subrahmanya state highway lost 45 sovereigns of gold ornaments apart from Rs 53,000 in cash, between October 6 and October 12. Total value of these items has been put at around nine lac rupees. The family members, who were away during the said period, realized to their horror that their belongings had been robbed, after reaching their home back on the night of Wednesday October 12.

Owner of the house, Kunhimonu, works abroad. His wife, Ayesha, live here along with her three children. As the schools had Dasara holidays, Ayesha had gone to Gurpur on October 6 to visit her parents and spend time with them.

On her return, Ayesha found that the thieves had gained entry into the bedroom by breaking open the door of a second-storey room of the house, and had accessed gold ornaments and cash kept in a cupboard located in the bedroom. Ayesha had made the task of the thieves easier by leaving behind the key of the cupboard.

District superintendent of police (SP), Labhu Ram, additional SP, Prabhakar, circle inspector, Jagadish, Kadaba sub-inspector, Paulpriya Kumar visited the spot. Sniffer dogs were also summoned. A case has been registered, and investigation is on.
