Mangaluru: Overcast conditions prevail in coastal region

Mangaluru, May 10: Cloudy weather continues to prevail throughout the coastal region. However, later in the day, dry weather with scorching heat is expected. In the evening, overcast conditions are expected to prevail in the rural area. The maximum temperature reached 30°C for the first time in the past two months on Thursday May 9.

In Dakshina Kannada, an average maximum temperature of 30.1°C and a minimum of 24.1°C were recorded on Thursday. With the lowest temperature at 23°C, the night was dry with a slight chill. An average temperature of 33.1°C was recorded in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts.

The rainforest and many parts of the Western Ghats were covered with clouds during the night. According to forecasts, cloudy weather will prevail in parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. Night time cold is expected to increase in the next one or two days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there are chances of scattered rains in the evenings, with dry and cloudy weather during the daytime in certain parts of the coastal districts.

Pre-monsoon rains were expected to arrive in May. However, as there are no signs of low pressure or cyclones, pre-monsoon rains will be further weakened, and monsoon rains may begin in July or August according to IMD scientists.
