Bengaluru, May 12: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has informed the public and his well-wishers that he will not be celebrating his birthday on May 15 as he will be engaged in private programmes and campaigning for the Congress party in North India.
“I will not be available for anybody. Therefore, all my supporters and well-wishers are requested to send the greetings, good wishes and blessings from wherever they are without taking the trouble to visit me,” he said.
In a press release in advance, Shivakumar has urged all Congress leaders, workers, well-wishers and relatives not to try to meet him to wish him on his birthday.
“I am appealing to everybody not to take offence or mistake his unavailability,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister pointed out that Karnataka is facing drought conditions and people are suffering due to loss of crops and failure of monsoon.
He said: “I therefore request all not to celebrate my birthday or organise any programmes. Nobody should display cut-outs, posters, banners or advertisements extending birthday wishes. Your love, support and good wishes are enough as they will protect me.”
