Lucknow, Oct 15: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Saturday said he regarded social activist and Gandhian Anna Hazare as his friend. He even offered his support of Anna starts his anti-corruption movement in UP.
Digvijay Singh was in Lucknow on Saturday to attend a function. During his speech he remarked: "Anna is my good friend and I have high regards for him. If he starts his movement from UP against anti-corruption I will offer all support and even Congressmen will sit with him." He even supported Anna's decision for silent fast.
He also stated that Anna Hazare should realise that along with corruption, another serious issue which the country is facing is communalism. "I have written a letter to him urging him to fast as he did for Jan Lokpal Bill for the proposed Communal Violence Bill. Communalism is also a serious threat to the country," he said.
Over his recent outburst regarding Anna he said: "Whenever I say anything a section of politician brand me as insane who should be send to mental asylum. Infact my stand has been vindicated afterwards."
Over the hate messages he is receiving, Digivijay stated that he is happy that he is the most hounded person on facebook. "I am happy with the attention but there is a larger issue behind all this. Our youths are being misled by certain section of people and they are being alienated," he said.
Over threat to Arvind Kejriwal, he remarked: "I receive such threats daily and do not take them seriously."
Digvijay stated that youths of the country should differentiate that any recognition to those who thrashed Prashant Bhushan is similar to the felicitation of killers of Punjab Governor in Pakistat. "We should learn lesson from Pakistan and not let our country slip in the hands of communal forces," he said.
