Mangalore: Workshop Throws Light on ‘Rights of Senior Citizens’

Mangalore, Oct 16: The NSS unit of SDM Law College and Spandana NSS Open Unit in collaboration with Dakshina Kannada Legal Services Organized a workshop on ‘Rights of senior citizens’ on Saturday October 15.

Inaugurating the workshop, R V Patil, principal civil judge and DK Legal Services Authority secretary said that merely forming a law for senior citizens is not enough, it should be implemented properly for which a strong legal body is required. Such a body should also have a good number of staff, he added.


The elderly citizens can always approach the Legal Services Authority if they face any problems in availing the benefits promised to them by the Government, he assured.

SDM Law College principal B K Ravindra presided. Addressing the gathering he said that the children should not neglect their elderly parents and all the senior citizens should be considered as an asset, he stressed.

Several resources persons including eminent advocates spoke about the rights of senior citizens. City senior citizens’ association president P Jagadish Rao, NSS officers Naresh Malligemadu, Santhosh Kumar among others were present on the occasion.

    Happy to know about workshop on Senior Citizens in Mangalore. Please let us know how day care to senior citizen is provided when her near & dear ones are away in another city. Regards devi
