Mumbai, Oct 17 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities Monday made a quiet start to the week, after having soared over 5 percent in last week.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, opened at 17,176.05 points and was ruling at 17,134.72 points, up 52.03 points or 0.3 percent from its previous close at 17,082.69 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading higher, 0.28 percent or 8.7 points up at 5,146.75 points.
Broader markets were also in the green. The BSE midcap index was up 0.56 percent, while the BSE small cap index was ruling 0.48 percent up.
