Beltangady, Oct 17: Additional director general of police, Bipin Gopalakrishna, said that the first phase of investigation into the causes leading to the death of Mahadeva S Mane will be concluded with the receipt of the ballistic report. Reportedly, Mane had died at Manjalkadu in Savanalu in the taluk during the exchange of fire with a naxal gang.

Gopalakrishna, who is in charge of the investigation, said that there is no need for the department to conceal anything. Terming the theory about efforts to subvert investigation as the speculation of the media, he informed that the details would be revealed upon receipt of the forensic report. He asserted that investigations are being conducted from all angles.

The ADGP confirmed that four hunters from Manjotti were present in the forest on the fateful day, and that their statements have been recorded by the officials of the internal security wing. He however, refused to divulge more details.
