Udupi, May 19: Former chairman of Udupi city development authority Janardhana Tonse said it creates pain when people holding responsible positions create differences on the basis of caste and religion.
Tonse was speaking at the Eid Sneha koota which was organised by Jamat E Islami Hind Hoode at the Salihat auditorium of Hoode.
Tonse further said, “For their selfish gains valleys are created between different religions. Attempts are made to disturb the communal harmony. In reality, we have cordial relation right from our birth. When Nejar murders occurred people cutting across religions expressed their condolences. It is a witness to the harmony that exists."
“It is necessary to organise programmes like this to boost ommunal harmony. The work done by Jamat E Islami is appreciable in this regard. This organisation is a model to all organisations,” he added.
Akbar Ali, Jammat E Islami Hindi state secretary, said, “It is usual to have differences between religions. However, an environment needs to be created to live with these differences. People who love religion should unite to foil attempts of people who are trying to break the nation in the name of religion.”
Abdul Khadir Moideen, president of Jamat E Islami Hindi Hoode gave the introductory speech. Maulana Mohammed Tariq recited the Quran. Yasin Kodibengre compered the event and rendered the vote of thanks.
Maulana Adam Saheb, Kemmannu grama panchayat president Kusuma, vice-president Arun Fernandes, solidarity Hoode president Zabir Katib, SIO Hoode unit president Zeeshan Hoode and others were present.
