Mangaluru, May 21: The Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation Trust is organizing Yakshadhruva Patla Sambhrama-2024 on Sunday, May 26, at Adyar Gardens, Mangaluru. The Foundation has announced that artists will receive monetary assistance for healthcare, and their insurance premiums will be paid by the Patla Foundation.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, May 21, at the Press Club Mangaluru, Patla Foundation Trust Founder Patla Satish Shetty said, "On May 26, we are organizing Patla Sambhrama, and this event will include Mahila Yakshagana. We have also planned to encourage children, and other Yakshagana performances will be presented. The Patla Foundation has been focusing on creating awareness about Yakshagana among the public. To raise awareness among children, last year we organized a significant event where nearly 3500 students participated. Out of them, 1700 high school students wore Yakshagana costumes and displayed their talent, which was a highlight. Cine star Kiccha Sudeep will also be present at 3 pm. This time, we will reward three Yaksha Shikshakas and other personalities. It makes us happy when students from other parts of Karnataka wear Yakshagana costumes and display their talent."
Secretary Purushottam Bhandary said, "When the Covid pandemic hit, Yakshagana and Nataka groups were included in our team. This time, we have decided to include the Kambala team. There are nearly 250 buffalo jockeys, and in last year's Kambala, 256 buffaloes participated. We estimate at least 4-5 people per buffalo. The jockeys and other artists need insurance, which will be provided on May 26. The entire cost of their premiums will be borne by the Patla Foundation. If an artist is hospitalized, we will provide Rs 60,000 for medical expenses. If the artist passes away, their family will receive Rs 10 lac. This life insurance covers accidents, including snake bites and road accidents. If part of their body is damaged, they will receive insurance money. If the artist's children are still studying at that time, we will give 1 lakh rupees for their education. We will also provide money for ambulance service and cremation. Interested people need to bring their Aadhar card and other documents, along with the Aadhar card of the nominee."
"For children, we have arranged horse riding and other facilities. An Arogya camp will be held, offering heart check-ups, ECG, blood tests, a blood donation camp, eye check-ups, and specs distribution. On this occasion, we will honour Ramachandra Hegde with the Yaksha Patla Prasasti, and CA Divakar Rao and Shaila Divakar will receive the Yakshadhruva Mahaposhaka Prashasti," he said.
CA Sudhesh Kumar Rai, Navaneeth Shetty, Bala Jaganath Shetty, Pradeep Alva Kadri, Ravi Shetty, Dr. Manu Rao, and others were present.
