Udupi: Legislative Council polls - Liquor sale banned in dist from June 1 to 3

Udupi, May 21: With the Karnataka Legislative Council elections taking place in the Karnataka South West Graduate Constituency, South West Teachers Constituency, and Karnataka South Teachers Constituency on June 3, all the liquor shops in the district will be closed from 5 pm on June 1 until midnight on June 3.

This decision, issued by the district collector and district magistrate, Dr K Vidyakumari, is in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 10(b) of the Karnataka Excise Act General Rules, 1967, and Section 135(c) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

The ban includes the sale and supply of liquor in liquor depots, liquor manufacturing distilleries, star hotels, shendi shops, and clubs.
