Slipper Attack on Team Anna Member Arvind Kejriwal

Lucknow, Oct 18: In yet another outburst of anger at Team Anna, a youth flunged a shoe at its key member Arvind Kejriwal in Lucknow on Tuesday October 18. Kejriwal had come to Lucknow to attend a rally organised by the district unit of India Against Corruption (IAC). The youth was thrashed by Anna activists while police rescued him. Meanwhile Kejriwal continued with his programme unfazed.
The incident occured at around 7 pm when he was about to enter Jhulelal Par,k the venue for rally organised by IAC. A youth identified as Jitendra Pathak (24), a resident of Bundelkhand district Jalaun, hurled his sandal towards Kejriwal. He also tried to show a black flag and moved ahead to attack him. However, the IAC activists pounced upon him and thrashed him. Police had a tough time in rescuing the youth from the venue.
In his statement Jitendra claimed that he took the step as Team Anna was misleading the nation. "When there was time till winter session why are they resorting to such tactics," he said. Jitendra also stated that they should clear their stand on Prashant Bhushan added that Kejriwal did not utter a single word on corruption during his visit to Banda in Bundelkhand.
However, after the incident, an unfazed Kejriwal sat on the stage and continued with the programme. The rally continued while the youth was taken away by the police. At the spot State Co-ordinator, IAC, Sanjay Singh offered his comment over the incident. "He may be misled and does not understand things. He is innocent and should be released," said Sanjay Singh.
