Mangalore: Ramanath Rai Decries Government’s Gesture in Supporting Yeddy

Mangalore,Oct 18: Dakshina Kannada district Congress president, B Ramanath Rai, severely criticized the state cabinet for extending moral support to former Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, who has been remanded to judicial custody relating to his role in denotification scams. He was addressing a press conference in the city on Monday October 17.

“Yeddyurappa was always arrogant. When he was in power, he used to unleash verbal onslaught on the opposition parties. Now, he is in jail. The state cabinet’s stand of supporting him is condemnable. BJP state president, K S Eshwarappa, has been extending support to Yeddyurappa by claiming that former CM is just facing certain allegations, and that he is not a criminal. The BJP government, which is supporting those who have committed wrongs, has lost its right to rule the state,” he commented.

He thought that the BJP, by siding with Yeddyurappa, who has been named in the Lokayukta report, has insulted the people of the state. Criticizing the state government for failing to provide uninterrupted power to the people as promised, he said that a protest will be organized in front of the office of the district deputy commissioner here on October 20, against the failure of the BJP government in meeting this electoral promise.
