Karkala: Cattle Theft - Accused Held

Karkala, Oct 19: A team led by Hebri station house officer, Santosh Shetty, confiscated a Tata Sumo vehicle in which six cows were being inhumanly being transported, on the night of Monday October 17. Three persons, who were transporting the cows, were arrested. Cash amounting to Rs 9,000 was also recovered from their possession.

Mohammed Maqsood (30) from Moodbidri Kotebagilu, Mohammed Ali (23) from Moodbidri Puttige, and Mohammed Arif (20) from Siddakatte Sangabettu, were arrested in this connection. They were produced in a court here on Tuesday.

The policemen said that the accused had loaded some cows which were resting by the side of the road in Nadpal-Seenadi area at night onto their vehicle for being taken to the slaughter house. After the raid, the cattle were provided treatment by the veterinary officer at Hebri.
