Mangalore: Seminar on Education Act 2009 Focuses on Child Exploitation

“Role of educated and rich people in exploiting children in the modern society is far more than what is commonly known. This is a matter of concern,” said Eshwar Kateel, president, DK Zilla Panchayat health and education standing committee.

He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009’ informative seminar organized at ISD Hall, Nanthoor.
 
District women and children welfare committee president Asha Nayak was the chief guest. She said that women and children are exploited for various means and upholding rights of children and women is our duty.
 
In his keynote address, Renni D’Souza of Padi said that the quality of education is poor even today. Karnataka state SDMC secretary S M Abubakar presided over the programme. Umesh Nirmal welcomed. Sumana S Bangalore delivered the vote of thanks and Suresh Balila compered the programme.
