Mangalore, Oct 20: Both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts were enveloped in thick clouds on Wednesday October 19 evening. Puttur, Karkala, and Subrahmanya received six cm of rain, highest in the state, during the period ended Wednesday morning.
During the day on Wednesday, most parts of the twin-districts went without rain, although some showers were experienced. Thundershowers however, were experienced in most parts of the coast early morning on Thursday.
The affect of lightning was severe in Kasargod districts, where several buildings including a mosque and a sport club building suffered extensive damages due to lightning. Four persons were injured. Pavitra (14), daughter of Narayana Naik from Kana near Perla, Jameela (45), wife of Ukkas, resident of Dalangare Padingar, her son, Faisal (3) , were injured. An auto rickshaw parked near a house too suffered damages due to lightning.
The meteorological department has predicted rain in most parts of the coast, some places in southern hinterland, and a few more in northern hinterland. This prediction is valid till Friday morning.
