Puttur: Intra-departmental IT fest ‘Vision-2024’ organised at St Philomena College

Media Release

Puttur, May 29: The intra-departmental IT Fest ‘Vision-2024’, organised jointly by the Pinnacle IT Club and the computer science department of St Philomena College, was inaugurated at the SJM Hall of the college on May 29. The principal of the college, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, officially commenced the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

In his address to the students, Dr Monteiro emphasised the value of life experiences and the lessons they impart. “Our experiences teach us many lessons in life. There are many people in society who scold and criticise us. Their comments should be used only to bring positive changes in us. The most elevated people are humble. If form is a gift given to us by God, it is in our hands to shape our personality. If students have compassion, confidence, and courage, success will be found in life,” he said, encouraging the participants.

Vinayachandra, the dean and head of the department of computer science, delivered the introductory speech. He highlighted the significance of the ‘Vision IT Fest’, stating, “Since 2012, Vision intra-department IT Fest has been organized in the college for the all-round development and skill enhancement of the students along with the scheduled lectures. Vision is a platform envisioned by the Department of Computer Science to showcase talent and foster innovation. Ever since the announcement of vision competitions, competitive spirit, self-confidence, and team spirit have been manifested among the students. The opportunities given to participate in these competitions will further boost the morale of the students.”

‘Vision 2024’ featured a diverse array of 15 competitions, including documentary, paper presentation, collage making, ideation, code war, hackathon, website design, photography, reminiscence, IT model design, break the query, IT manager, group dance, fashion show, and e-games. While some competitions like code war and website design involve individual participants, others see students competing in teams. The preliminary rounds of many competitions have already been completed, with the final stages set to take place on this platform. Winners will be honoured at the valedictory ceremony in the evening.

Disha and her team rendered prayer. Abhishek Kamat, president of Pinnacle IT Club welcomed and Nitin Simon proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Samriddhi Shenoy. Present on the stage were Pinnacle IT Club coordinator Soumya, vice-president of Pinnacle IT Club Aditya Dinesh, and secretary Farvez Akhtar.
