Bantwal, May 31: A major tragedy was averted when a gas tanker overturned after hitting a road divider on the morning of May 31 at Kadegoli near Thumbay on national highway 75.

The tanker, which was transporting gas from Mangaluru, veered off course and collided with the road divider, causing it to overturn.

Fortunately, there was no leakage from the tanker, preventing what could have been a catastrophic incident.

Bantwal fire service personnel, traffic police, and locals promptly arrived at the scene and ensured the uninterrupted movement of traffic on the highway.

Even though we give fault to drivers ,I feel our roads are not meant for long and heavy tankers. So many times such incidents happened ,either full tankers or empty tankers.Long tankers should be replaced with bit smaller tankers so that by turns or when a accident happens with other vehicles lesser loss or persons loss ,.Can be helped better? Our roads are very curvey and more busy roads.
