Mangaluru, May 31: St Agnes PU College organized an orientation programme to warmly welcome the incoming II PUC students. The event was designed to help new students transition smoothly into their new academic environment and to set a positive tone for the upcoming year. The programme began with a prayer song invoking God’s blessings.
The highlight of the programme was a motivational speech delivered by the chief guest Dr Damini Rane, consultant psychiatrist and deputy medical superintendent at Dr Thunga’s Manaswini hospital Arkula, Farangipete, Mangaluru. She captivated the audience by sharing her profound insights on addiction and dependence on social media, emphasizing the importance of its mindful usage in this digital age. She also congratulated the toppers and the achievers of the outgoing batch. She quoted her father’s advice 'Do not think you have achieved your best, this is just the beginning because everybody is working hard. So continue doing what you want to achieve sincerely, then success will follow you'.
The college took the opportunity to celebrate the academic success of the outgoing batch. Toppers, distinction, centum scorers were recognized and felicitated. Anjali R Rai topped the science stream with a phenomenal total of 592 out of 600 and centum in computer science and kannada. Ashmitha Lora Periera topped the commerce stream securing 590 out of 600 with centum in accountancy. Alisha Thimaiah topped the arts stream by obtaining 590 out of 600 and centum in psychology. The toppers from each stream shared their inspiring journey with the students. This recognition not only honored their hard work and dedication but also served as an inspiration for the new students to aim high and excel in their studies.
The principal Sr Norine D’Souza briefed the students about the basic rules and regulations and motivated the students to excel in the academics by hard work and perseverance. A video presentation enabled students to deepen the knowledge on the functioning, rules and regulations of the college.
The programme was coordinated by Chrystle, Likitha, and Mathew. Neeriksha Noronha welcomed the gathering while Apeksha proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was ably compered by Prival Monteiro.
