Kundapur, Jun 1: Dr Robert Rebello, an administrative surgeon and medical officer at the government hospital in Kundapur, has been suspended by deputy commissioner Dr Vidya Kumari following accusations of sexual harassment by a female colleague.
Dr Rebello is accused of sending lewd messages to a woman doctor who joined the hospital on a contract basis six months ago. Despite enduring the harassment to protect her job, the woman doctor was compelled to file a complaint after Dr Rebello allegedly made false accusations against her, attempting to tarnish her image and coerce her into submission.
A case has been filed, and police officials, along with the tahsildar, conducted an inspection at the hospital. In response to the complaint and public outrage, DC Vidya Kumari ordered Dr Rebello's suspension. Dr Latha has been appointed as the new medical officer at the Kundapur government hospital.
