Puttur, June 1: The post graduate department of social work, St Philomena College, in collaboration with the Koti-Chennaya friends club and the Puttur Rotary Campco Blood Centre, organised a blood donation camp recently at the Ariadka Grama Panchayat Hall, Kowdichar.
The event was presided over by Jagadish, president of the Koti-Chennaya friends club. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of St Philomena College, Puttur, inaugurated the camp and highlighted the importance of blood donation. Dr Sitaram Bhat from the Puttur Rotary Campco Blood Centre served as the resource person, explaining the benefits and necessity of regular blood donations.
Jagadish B spoke, reinforcing the significance of the initiative. The programme began with a warm welcome by Srimani, coordinator of the PG department of social work, followed by a prayer led by Rachel, and concluded with a vote of thanks from Arun Fernandes.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from the villagers who came forward to donate blood. The event was managed by first-year MSW social work students.
The programme was compered by Dixit Kumar Rai B, Manjunath PV, Subramanya Nayaka, and Shiv Karthik. Faculty members and students of the social work department were present and extended their cooperation to ensure the success of the programme.
