Mumbai, Jun 2: "It is a joyous task to respond and donate especially for education and health care. The donation given to education and health is always sacred and let's join hands in such pious service," said Korangrapadi Prakash Shetty, managing director of MRG Hospitality Private Limited (Banjara-Goldfinch).
Prakash Shetty spoke as the chief guest at the Bunts Sangha Mumbai's annual mega social welfare financial assistance programme organized by the Bunts Sangha’s education and social welfare committee at the Radhabai T Bhandari auditorium of the Buntara Bhavan in Kurla on Sunday here.
The event was sponsored by Sudhir V Shetty, chairman of Charisma Builders Ltd under the presidentship of Praveen Bhoja Shetty, president of Bunts Sangha and was inaugurated by Aikala Harish Shetty, president of Fed. In the programme conducted under the leadership of sangha's education and social welfare committee chairman, Dr Indrali Diwakara Shetty and managing director of Heramba Industries Ltd Raghurama K Shetty Kanyana was the special guest, Sudhakara S Hegde, chairman of Tunga Hotelu Group was the guest of honour and the financial aid amounting to more than Rs 1.80 crore was distributed to the beneficiaries.
Sangha's regional committees such as Andheri-Bandra, city region, Kurla-Bhandup, Thane-Mulund and Navi Mumbai area provide education stipends to the children of Bunts society, distribute financial assistance to widows and the mentally challenged, and adopt the relatives and gifted achievers of the financially disabled families.
Aikala Harish Shetty said, "The project started with an amount of around Rs 25 lac when Dr Suneetha M Shetty Sunita M Shetty was the chairperson and today it has grown enormously. It is the result of everyone's collaboration." He said that the beneficiaries should become educated and lead the whole family and the house by themselves. He appreciated the service of Buntar Sangh and the kindness of the donors by handing over the aid.
This project has been going on for 24 years and so far an amount of around Rs 40 crore has been allocated. No other society has such a scheme. It is a model for the world. Its credit goes to Aikala Harish Shetty. In his presidential address, Praveen Shetty said that it is commendable that this project is running efficiently due to the day and night work of all.
Sabgha’s vice president Mahesh S Shetty, general secretary Dr R K Shetty, treasurer CA Ramesh B Shetty, joint secretary Girish R Shetty Tellar, joint treasurer Shashidhar K Shetty Innanje, ladies wing chairperson Chitra R Shetty, education and social welfare committee vice president Subbaiah A.Shetty, secretary CS Uttam Shetty, treasurer Jayaprakash R Shetty graced the stage.
On behalf of the regional committee, Mira Bhayandar, who donated more than Rs five lac to the financial aid fair, was awarded the regional committee gold medal. Mumbai's renowned psychologist Dr Harish Shetty gave useful information about maintaining mental health. Dr Indrali Diwakara Shetty welcomed and gave introductory remarks. CS Uttam Shetty was in charge of the education and social welfare committee of the sangha. Higher education committee working president Adarsh B Shetty informed about the educational institutions of the association. He honoured all the dignitaries present in the programme with a bouquet of flowers.
As part of the programme, the Tulu short drama 'Maha Purusher' composed and directed by Ashok Pakkala was performed by the members of the sangha. The programme started with the buntara Geete. Saroja B Shetty offered the prayer. Subbaiah A Shetty read the list of donors. Ashoka Pakkala compared the programme. Jayaprakash R Shetty proposed vote of thanks.
