Udupi: Liquor ban temporary lifted amid MLC elections

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Jun 3: Bars and liquor shops in Udupi district have been permitted to operate from 4 PM to 10 PM on June 3, following a temporary relaxation of a four-day liquor ban imposed due to the ongoing MLC elections.

Udupi deputy commissioner Dr Vidyakumari issued a revised order allowing the sale of liquor during this brief window. The initial ban restricted sales through bars, pubs, and star hotels to ensure the integrity of the election process.

However, the bars and pubs will be closed again at 10 PM on June 3, in preparation for the election counting process scheduled for June 4.
