Lok Sabha polls: BJP’s hold over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi continues

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru/Udupi (VP)

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 4: The results of Lok Sabha elections are almost final. BJP candidates Capt Brijesh Chowta from Dakshina Kannada and Kota Srinivas Poojary from Udupi have emerged victorious in the twin districts.

Capt Brijesh Chowta, an army veteran, received the ticket from the BJP party. He succeeded the 3 times MP of Dakshina Kannada Nalin Kumar Kateel. Capt Brijesh Chowta bagged over 7,64,132  votes while the Congress party's candidate Padmaraj R Poojary received 6,14,924 votes, giving Chowta a win by 1,49,208 votes.

Kota Srinivas Poojary, a seasoned politician and former leader of opposition was chosen for the Udupi Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha elections from the BJP. On understanding the problems in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru district, the BJP party relocated the 2-time winner Shobha Karandlaje to Bengaluru North constituency. Kota Srinivasa Poojary, who again secured an unprecedented lead, bagged 7,31,408 votes, while Jayaprakash Hegde of Congress secured 4,72,505 votes. With this, Kota Srinivas Poojary won by 2,58,903 votes. Besides, 11,257 percent NOTA votes have been registered in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency.

Addressing the media, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "I thank everyone who has cast their votes for the BJP. I also thank all party members for their dedication and support during this election. The people of Udupi and Chikkamagaluru district want to see Narendra Modi as the prime minister once again, hence they have voted for me. The NDA will receive a full majority, we are estimating to receive at least 295 seats."

He also said, "Although we have not reached our expectations, our prediction on UP, West Bengal and Rajasthan went wrong. The Congress party promised that they will give around Rs 1 lac for all women which changed some calculations. But we are happy that the NDA alliance has won once again. We expected to secure more than 20 seats in Karnataka but it has not happened. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked a lot for the country from abrogating Article 370 to construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The people of the country know the reality of Congress yet they fall into their fake promises. I will also learn Hindi and English soon to represent the problems of people at the parliament level."

As Kota Srinivas Poojary secured a resounding victory with 258,903 votes, jubilation filled the atmosphere at his Kotattatu residence. Kota's wife, Shanta, expressed her joy alongside party workers and family members, as they celebrated the momentous win. Party workers shared sweets with her.

Speaking to reporters, Capt Brijesh Chowta said, "I will be committed to Navayug and Navapath based on Hinduism and I will keep development as my main priority. I will create a new hope and build new dreams among the people of Dakshina Kannada. I will ensure that the district moves in the path of development with help of all party members. Today's victory is because of Narendra Modi, Hindutva, organisation workers and district president. We contested this election on the basis of truth, religion, justice and Hindutva."

He further added, "With the blessings of Daivas of Tulunadu, the efforts of party workers and guidance of the elders of the organisation and the support of the leaders from state to central level, we have faced this election successfully. The Congress party has faced this election together with SDPI, which is shameful. I will talk about numbers once certain things are cleared."

Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj party candidate Kanthappa Alangar received 4323 votes, Karunada Sevakara Party candidate Durga Prasad bagged 2592 votes, independent candidates Supreeth Kumar Poojary and Maxim Pinto received 1901 and 1690 votes respectively. Uttama Prajakiya Party candidate, Manohar received 971 votes and Karnataka Rashtra Samithi candidate, Ranjini M received 776 votes. In the entire district, NOTA received around 23576 votes.

Congress could have done even better and routed the BJP but, BJP due to the fear of losing, first sent Kejriwal behind the bars and 100% played with Delhi voters. They cut off Congress funds completely by freezing it-crippled their ability to reach out to more voters! Election Officials ignored use of religion and condemnation of minorities by Modi repeatedly. Suddenly, he even became God and insulted his mother! Why? by hook or by crook, he wanted to feast on his dictatorship for another 5 years. As I said, God sees the truth but sometimes wait, giving time for such idiots to recognize their folly. Wondering where are the dozen Poll predictors? All claimed to give NDA a clean sweep.

It is a shame that Congress should have given a strong fight against BJP, they failed. Ivan D'Souza, and non-Hindu names would have given a serious chance of winning. Why did Congress field a non-secular Padmaraj?

I think you should take back your comment. If you see with an open mind, the PAPPU you thought would not be able to dent the BJP prospects has come back with a vengeance. Compared to MODIjis comments like he is God send and that he stopped the Russia Ukrainian war, one should think really hard who the real PAPPU is. Your loving Pappu (RAGA) has indeed created a dent and the BJPs slogan is baar 400 paar has gone with the wind and made the investors lose money like never before in the biggest stock market crash ever in 4 years. The recent debates from RAGA if you see, there is truth in him speaking. RAGA speaks facts and figures while Modiji speaks the whole lie. If you dont agree then i think it is equal to calling voters fools., especially the ones in UP. I guess it is time to keep the bulldozer in the garage and get into a huddle for some serious introspection. This time it is about 100 for congress, next time....???

Changes wont happen overnight. It took 30 years for BJP to dig deep. Thanks to Congress for letting Janardhana Poojari 6 times with back to back defeats to help them in doing this. Perhaps the next decade may see a change, if Congress comes to the center on its own.

You are revealing your personality with your comment. Are you here to give certificates to people as to who is anti-national. Can you explain what are the parameters to be a nationalist.? What makes you say you are a nationalist. BJP has developed a script for it's supporters, they don't have script of their own. Let's see if Poojary engages in debates and discussions in the parliament. let's see his participation if not he should be called anti Udupi.

Dear It seems that there have been disagreements based on ideological differences, and I would like to emphasize that these differences should not lead to judgments about one's religious beliefs or personal integrity. It is important to understand that disagreeing with someone's ideology does not make them a "bad Muslim," just as it wouldn't make someone else a "bad Hindu" for not agreeing with another's perspective. We should refrain from bringing religion into these discussions and focus on respectful and constructive dialogue. Additionally, it is evident that corruption among politicians is a widespread issue, irrespective of their party affiliation. Our collective goal should be to unite and work towards making our country prosperous.
