New Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS): The state-run Vijaya Bank Friday opened 40 new branches and 80 automated teller machines (ATMs) across the country on the occasion of its 81st foundation day.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee opened the bank's branches and ATMs with a click of mouse at a foundation day celebration of the bank organised here.
With the opening of new units, the number of branches of the Bangalore-based bank reaches 1,240 and ATMs 643.
On the occasion, the bank also opened four urban micro finance branches and adopted eight villages for providing basic amenities to the villagers.
Addressing the function, Mukherjee said the bank's total business has increased to Rs.1,32,000 crore.
"The bank has come a long way withstanding many a challenges posed by continuously changing banking scenario and today it is one of the successful public sector banks with a total business of Rs.1,32,000 crore," the finance minister said.
