Bantwal: Labourer falls to death from under construction house

Bantwal, Jun 6: A labourer died when the wooden planks and jacks installed to pour concrete in an under-construction house at Badaje in Amtadi collapsed on Wednesday June 5.

The deceased is identified as Prakash Kulal (45), a resident of Tadyalu in Amtadi. He was also serving as a member of the Amtadi gram panchayat. The jacks and planks were set to pour concrete for the roof of the second story of the house.

Three labourers were standing on the planks. When the structure collapsed, two jumped to safety, while Prakash was severely injured. Though he was shifted to Thumbay Hospital immediately, he breathed his last on the way.

Prakash was elected for the first time as a member of the gram panchayat. He was previously in Congress and later joined the BJP. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

A case in this connection has been registered at Bantwal police station.
