Belgaum: Skaters from City Excel at Skating Championship

Belgaum, Oct 22: The South India level speed skating championship for CBSE schools was held at KLES International School, Belgaum, from October 11 to 14. Over 600 skaters from about 173 CBSE-affiliated schools from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Puducherry, took part in the championship.

Seeliya Simith, a Mangalorean, won gold medals in 500 metre and 3,000 metre categories. Ashel D’Silva annexed bronze medal in 750 metre race. Both of them are being trained by Mahesh Kumar, trainer of Mangalore Roller Skating Club.

Seeliya Simith, a student of Lourdes Central School, Bejai, Mangalore, emerged as individual champion with two gold medals. Ashel D’Silva is a student of Cambridge School, Mangalore.
