Bantwal, Jun 8: A scooter rider was killed on the spot when a truck hit his vehicle from behind at Kanduru in Sajipa Munnur village on Saturday, June 8, in the evening.
The deceased is identified as Ramanayak (47) from Kalayi, Amtady village.
He was traveling on his scooter from Mudarangady towards B C Road on personal work when a speeding and carelessly driven truck collided with him from behind.
The impact of the collision caused the scooter rider to be thrown onto the road, resulting in severe head injury and bleeding for the victim Ramanayak.
It is reported that his body lay in the middle of the road for about half an hour, as no one touched him until the police arrived.
Later, the police arrived at the scene and shifted his mortal remains to Bantwal Government Hospital.
Ramanayak had been serving as the manager at the Indian Oil Petroleum Pump on the Bantwal Bypass for many years.
He was known to be a dedicated employee and had a good relationship with the customers.
Melkar traffic sub-inspector Sutesh visited the accident site and registered a case.
