Bantwal: Origami art bus draws thousands of visitors

Bantwal, Jun 15: The Bantwal taluk administration, the education department, the Bantwal Taluk Working Journalists' Association, and various Rotary Clubs jointly organized an event featuring the ‘Museum on Wheels’ programme from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Mumbai. The origami bus, filled with origami artworks, arrived at B C Road, attracting thousands of visitors, including students, who expressed their admiration for the displayed art.

Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippadyguttu inaugurated the exhibition by launching an origami rocket. In his speech, he praised the museum's initiative to bring high-quality art to rural areas, stating that it is commendable to educate the general public about such art forms and that teaching children to create artworks using only paper is a significant contribution to enhancing their skills.

The event was attended by Archana D Bhatt, the tahsildar of Bantwal; Manjunathan M G, the block education officer; Prashanth Poonjalakatte, the president of the Bantwal Taluk Working Journalists' Association; Manjunath Acharya, the chairman of Rotary Interact; K Krishnakumar Poonja, the administrative trustee of the Farangipet Sevaanjali Foundation; Prakash Baliga, the president of the Bantwal Rotary Club; and Chinmayi from the museum.

Following the instructions of the Bantwal education department, more than 1,500 students from over 25 schools visited the origami artworks in the afternoon. Additionally, over 1,000 members of the public admired the art. A workshop on creating origami artworks was also organized for students at the Sthree Shakti Bhavan in B C Road.

Kashyapi from the museum gave the introductory speech, teacher Aravind Kudla welcomed the guests, and Mounesh Vishwakarma, the director of the Samsara Jodu Marg team, managed and thanked the participants.
