Mandya: KSRTC-Omni Collision - Six Killed on Spot, One Critical

Mandya, Oct 24: Six people were killed on the spot and one was critically injured in an accident that occured at Srirangapatna near here on Monday October 24.

A KSRTC bus collided head-on with a Maruti Omni, killing six passengers in the van at Yelekere handpost.

The accident took place on the KR Pet-Mysore highway at around 11 am. The bus was plying from Mysore to KR Pet.

The Omni was completely smashed.

It is said that drivers of both vehicles speeding as well driving rashly, which led to the accident. There were seven passengers in all in the Omni, of whom six died and one is critical.

Srirangapatna police rushed to the spot. The names of the deceased and injured are yet to be ascertained.

    Omni is most dangerous vehicle - light weight and no safety for front seat passenger. It should be banned for carrying passengers and using as Ambulance.
