Udupi, Jun 18: ASARE, the School, Rehabilitation Centre, autism & learning disorder division, celebrated its 16th anniversary in a grand event held at its campus. ASARE, a joint project of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Archana Trust, has been a beacon of support for individuals with special needs since its inception in 2008.

The event was graced by chief guest Dr NS Raviraja, director of planning & monitoring, MAHE, inaugurated the newly developed teaching aids. Dr Raviraja emphasised the importance of providing opportunities rather than sympathy for specially-abled children, highlighting the core mission of ASARE.

Senior special educator Ramesh Naik presented the report for the years 2008-2025, underscoring ASARE's unwavering commitment to its mission. "ASARE has been on a mission. We were conceived in 2008 with one goal - to offer support and safety to the especially abled - a mission we continue working tirelessly towards," he stated.

The celebration included the symbolic act of planting a sapling on the campus by Purushotham Shetty and Rtn Subhash Bangera represents the donor community's ongoing support and dedication to ASARE's mission.

Jai Vittal of ASARE, who served as the master of ceremonies, warmly welcomed the gathering. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Vijayalakshi V, Dr Geeta Maiya, director, student affairs, MAHE, and Dr Padmaraj Hedge, dean, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, were also present at the event.

The 16th-anniversary celebration of ASARE stands as a testament to its enduring dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with autism and learning disorders.
